Lyle L. Shaw, 76, a longtime resident of Byesville, passed away Monday (February 17, 2025) at OhioHealth Southeastern Med, Cambridge.

He was born May 14, 1948 in Cleveland, son of the late Rev. Lawrence Shaw and Elsie Violet (Bell) Shaw.

A 1966 graduate of Meadowbrook High School, Lyle spent one summer working road construction before beginning his career with Champion Spark Plug. He retired in 2004. Lyle also did a lot of concrete work locally, and owned his own dump truck, hauling gravel and other materials for local residents.

Lyle’s garage was always spotless and he was a car enthusiast. He was an avid Ohio State University fan. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, golfing, a good cigar, and enjoying night life with his friends and family.

Lyle was a social member of the Byesville VFW Post 3760.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Diss; and a granddaughter, McKenzie Bailey.

Lyle is survived by his wife of forty years, Maxine (Ogle) Shaw, whom he married on September 7, 1984; three sons, Mark “Hollywood” (& Crystal) Shaw of Parkersburg WV, Todd “Mooney” (& Michele) Shaw of Queen Creek AZ, and Brad “BA” (& Melissa) Shaw of Zanesville; two daughters, Kim Diss of Byesville and Karla Diss of Byesville; sixteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; his beloved dog, Maci; and countless friends.

Memorial visitation hours will be held Saturday (MARCH 8, 2025) from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville.
