Lynn Gets Max. 18 Years

A Zanesville man is sentenced to 18 years in prison on one count of rape and one count of pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor.

Muskingum County Common Pleas Court Judge Kelly Cotrill sentenced 43-year-old Michael Lynn this afternoon.

Lynn’s Defense Attorney, Scott Rankin, asked Cotrill to look at Lynn’s past record before making his decision.

“He’s 43 years old. He’s been a productive member of society throughout his life. He’s maintained employment and has an excellent job-did have prior to his arrest. He has 3 children. He was a father to them. He has no prior felony record, ” says Rankin.

Rankin says lynn will be punished for the rest of his life by registering as a tier three sex offender, but Cotrill took the prosecuting attorney’s suggestion and sentenced Lynn to the maximum sentence of 18-years in prison.

“Mr. Lynn, you created a lifetime victim by your actions, ” says Cotrill.

Lynn initially faced 27 counts of sexual misconduct back in June.

He is currently being held at the Muskingum County Jail.
