Making It Easier to Earn a Bachelor’s
Zane State and Ohio University Zanesville make it easier for students in two programs to go from an associates degree to a bachelors without leaving campus.
While the schools have partnered together for projects this cooperative effort allows Zane State students interested in earning a bachelor’s in sport and lifestyle studies or criminal justice to transfer to Ohio University Zanesville.
These programs were chosen because they exist at both institutions already. It’s the first for what educators hope leads to many more.
“We know that education is important in order to ensure the success of people in their lives and in their careers and we want to serve our community in this way better,” said OUZ Dean Dr. Jenifer Cushman.
Zane State’s President said that allowing students to transfer seamlessly from one program to the other let’s students stay on campus. This saves in travel costs, time and money.
He said those issues are important to solve for students that may have families or have to juggle other life events.
Dr. Paul Brown, president of Zane State College said, “Â If you can figure out a way to make those things happen economically, so that they don’t have to spend a lot of time then it all of a sudden becomes feasible for them.
Dr. Brown said they worked for almost nine months to create this partnership. Staff from both institutions will work together to make sure the transition is easy for students.
