Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women in the United States, and other than skin cancer, is the second leading cause of death.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and The American Cancer Society is asking the community to come together to finish the fight. The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5K is back in Zanesville on October 10.

“This is the second year, last year we had over 650 participants and we raised right around $28,000 last year, we are dreaming big this year and hoping to raise over $40,000 in the fight against breast cancer, and have over 1,000 people out,” said Terri Kangas, Community Manager for The American Cancer Society.

The walk starts at 10 a.m. on October 10, at the Ohio University Zanesville campus. In person registration begins at 9 a.m. that morning, or you can register online at makingstrideswalk.org. By donating, you can support The American Cancer Society’s programs that fight against breast cancer.

“They can register online, you can register as a team or as an individual, there is no minimum fee, there is no registration fee, just register and come out and participate, we accept donations for our cause and we’ll have a merchandise tent there that morning with lots of making strides pink stuff,” Kangas said.
