Mall Promotes Breastfeeding
As National Breastfeeding Awareness Month comes to an end, one local business is continuing to promote it.
The Colony Square Mall is partnering together with the Zanesville-Muskingum County Health Department to support breastfeeding and provide a safe place for mothers who are nursing.
“Across the country, we haven’t had any issues here, but there have been other public places where people have complained or made an issue of that and that shouldn’t be, breastfeeding is very natural, it’s very healthy for the baby, and we should support moms who dedicate the time that it takes to breastfeed, we should definitely support that,” said Marketing and Business Development Coordinator, Kevin Pinson.
National Breastfeeding Awareness Month is a time to celebrate all of the advantages of breastfeeding, while moving away from the social stigma that comes along with it. The mall is just one place in the community making strides.
“Well both of my children were breast-fed, and I know that my wife was very dedicated as any mom that does so, and it takes a lot of time, it takes a lot of time, and you really have to schedule for that so we should definitely support that any chance we get,” Pinson said.
In 2005, Ohio passed a law allowing moms to breastfeed wherever they have the right to be.
