Man Dies in Crash Near Dresden
The Zanesville Post of the State Highway Patrol is investigating a one vehicle fatal accident.
According to the patrol, the crash happened on Main Street at Dresden Road in Jefferson Township around 1:40 AM on Sunday. 36-year-old Richard Reed of Pleasant City was driving eastbound on Main Street when he failed to negotiate a turn and went over an embankment.
The front end of his Ford Explorer struck the ground, and Reed was ejected from the vehicle. A trooper administered CPR, but Reed was pronounced dead at the scene by the Muskingum County Coroner and transported to the Licking County Morgue.
The patrol said Reed was not wearing a safety belt, and alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.
