Man Flees Traffic Stop, Locks Himself in Gas Station
A man locked himself in a Muskingum County gas station following a traffic stop Wednesday afternoon.
According to the Zanesville Post of the State Highway Patrol, shortly before 1:30 p.m. troopers pulled a car over on U.S. 40 in Hopewell Township, because it had no front license plate.
When the car stopped a passenger, 43-year-old Bradley Sheppard of Hopewell, walked to a nearby gas station and locked himself in a storage room in the basement.
The Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office came to the scene to assist. A short time later Sheppard surrendered to authorities. Sheppard was arrested on a misdemeanor warrant and was taken to the Muskingum County Jail.
The driver of the car that was stopped, 34-year-old Heath Miller of Zanesville, was cited for driving without a license.
