Man Found Guilty of Home Invasion

A man was found guilty by a jury trial Wednesday in connection to a home invasion in August of 2017.
The Muskingum County Prosecutor’s Office says Mason Somers was charged with Aggravated Robbery, Kidnapping and Felonious Assault.
Authorities say the incident happened on Rehl Road where a masked gunman robbed and assaulted the victim in his home.
The Prosecutor’s Office says the investigation, led by Detective Brad Shawger of the Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office discovered Somers’ DNA on a flashlight dropped by the gunman at the scene, ultimately leading to his conviction for the crimes.
Somers faces a minimum term of nine years and a maximum term of 53 years incarceration. Somers sentencing is scheduled for Monday at 10:00 am in Common Pleas Court.
