Man indicted on 28 felony counts following Perry County investigation

Perry County, OH- A grand jury has indicted Joseph M. Jones on 28 felony counts following an investigation into child sexual abuse material, according to the Perry County Sheriff’s Office.

Jones was arrested Aug. 28 after an investigation led by Sgt. Jackson of the sheriff’s office’s Special Investigations Unit. Investigators allege Jones possessed more than 120,000 files containing images and videos of child sexual abuse material.

On Sept. 21, a grand jury indicted Jones on 16 felony counts of pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor and 12 additional felony charges related to tampering and failure to register, according to the sheriff’s office.

The sheriff’s office identified Jones as a registered sex offender. According to its Sept. 25 news release, he was being held at Southeast Regional Jail on a $1.5 million dollar bond.
