Man Taken Into Custody After Accident on St. Rt. 146

A man was taken into custody following an accident on State Route 146 Friday evening.

The accident occurred just before 8 p.m.  According to Trooper Rich Lanning of the Zanesville Post of the State Highway Patrol, a red 2004 Ford Escape was traveling eastbound on State Route 146 just west of Tunis Road when it traveled off the road and struck the concrete barrier on a bridge. The collision caused the vehicle to flip several times before coming to a rest on its side in the middle of the road.

The 26-year-old male driver was then taken into custody by the sheriff’s office as it was discovered that Muskingum County had warrants out for his arrest. The driver had a cut on his head but refused treatment at the scene.

Both lanes of the roadway were closed for nearly two hours. Falls and Licking Township EMS also responded to the scene.
