Many Questions Still to Answer as Ohio State Kicks Off 2025 Training Camp
COLUMBUS, OH – For the first time in 16 long weeks, Ohio State once again takes the field for the first day of the team’s annual open training camp.
Now, a lot of new faces are stepping into high profile roles this season following the team’s national title run a year ago, and the message now is about what is next for the Buckeyes.
There are still plenty of questions to be answered about where the young Buckeyes will turn, headed into another high pressured season in 2025, not only for the team, but also for one final run out for fifth-year senior and Zanesville alum Julian Goines-Jackson.
The team won’t have a lot of time to get adjusted once the new season starts at the end of August, when Texas comes to town. Now, still with a month until week one, Ryan Day continues to stress his team’s urgency in camp after practice number one.
“We know that in that first game, you know, you can’t, you know, quote unquote be learning on the job in that first week. I mean, we got to be going. So we have to flush through as many issues as we possibly can” says Day. “You know, we’ve got a long season ahead of us. But you know, it can come down to one play…because all it takes is one play, and it can cost you.”
For the fourth straight season, the Buckeyes will have a new starting quarterback to lead another anticipated dynamic attack. Could it be rising sophomore Julian Sayin, with a ring already in this pocket? Well, the same can be said for junior Lincoln Kienholz, who has impressed since the spring after patiently waiting his turn the last two years. You cannot forget about five-star prospect Tavien St. Clair, finally suiting up for the Buckeyes this year. Time will tell on who will be taking the snaps this year for Ohio State.
Day continues, “I do think all three of them look a little bit stronger, a little bit more explosive. “Moving better, a little bit more command of the huddle. But we’ll watch the film and kind of go from there. Give me about four or five days and get a better idea.”
Less than a month remains until Ohio State kicks off its season against the Longhorns in a highly anticipated week one matchup.
