Marie T. Frank

Marie T. Frank died on Thursday, February 18, 2022 in Cincinnati, Ohio with her family by her side.
She was born Marie T. Marto on October 31, 1927 in Jerusalem, the daughter of Paul and Rosa Marto. She was the youngest of eight children. During her childhood she was educated in a French Catholic school and mastered several languages.
She, along with her family, fled Jerusalem in 1948 and briefly settled in Amman, Jordan and Beirut, Lebanon in her seven year journey to the United States. She and her sister Carmen became known for designing beautiful gowns. Their reputation for these gowns grew throughout the region; soon they were designing dresses for many prominent women, including the Queen of Jordan and her court.
In 1954 she and her sister Carmen settled in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and began working for the iconic department store, Joseph Horne. It was there she met her future husband, Edward Frank. They married October 20, 1956 at St. Paul’s Cathedral. In 1958 she gave birth to their first child and shortly thereafter they relocated to Cincinnati where they had two more children.
Marie never lost her love for fashion. After raising her children, she resumed her career as a fashion consultant for Casual Corner. She became their top salesperson, selling over $1 million in merchandise. She earned several awards and distinctions from the company. She and Edward continued through life together, inseparable for 65 years until he passed. They left a legacy of family in their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Marie was a devoted member of St. Anthony of Padua, Maronite Catholic Church. Throughout her life she exhibited a will to survive and overcame obstacles that most would not.
She is survived by her children Nicole Phillips (David), Danielle Mason (Donald), and Edward Frank, Jr. (Dorine); her grandchildren Alexander Phillips (Amanda), Christian Mason, Madeline Mason-Maier (J. Mason), and Zachary Mason; and her great grandchildren Grayson and Norah Phillips.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Edward Frank, Sr.; her parents, Paul and Rosa; and her four brothers and three sisters, including Carmen who accompanied her on every journey throughout their lives.
