Marjorie Jean (Headley) Gardner, 98, of Byesville, passed away Wednesday (April 30, 2025) at the home of her daughter.

She was born September 17, 1926 in Cambridge, daughter of Talmadge Headley and Ethel (Hare) Headley.

In her younger years, Marjorie had worked at Hare’s Grocery and later at Cambridge Glass.

She was a member of the Byesville Assembly of God.

Marjorie was a great cook, a wonderful pie baker, and enjoyed canning. She was a homebody and loved her flowers. Everyone who knew her called her “Grandma”.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Gardner, who passed away December 20, 2011. They were married October 16, 1946. Also deceased are three sisters, Wilma Watson, Joan Vance, and Shirley Barnes; an infant brother, Harold; and a great-granddaughter, Leah Dudley.

Marjorie is survived by three daughters, Sharon (Paul) Wineman of Cambridge, Gloria (Raymond) Touvell of Byesville, and Karen (Gregory) Black of Cambridge; nine grandchildren, Tiffany, Nancy, Ray, Mark, Michelle, Jennifer, Angela, Joel, and Jeremy; twenty-three great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews. She is also survived by Elizabeth Clark of Cambridge, whom Marjorie had cared for as a small child.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice of Guernsey and to the many home health aides that helped Marjorie over the years.

Visitation will be held Monday (May 5, 2025) from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville, and also on Tuesday (May 6, 2025) from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday (May 6, 2025) at 1 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville, with Ret. Chaplain (LTC) Greg Black officiating.

Burial will be at Senecaville Cemetery.
