Marlee’s Christmas Story

Marlee's Christmas Story

Well believe it or not there are only 39 days left until Christmas, and one local girl got a head start on spreading the Christmas cheer.

11-year old Marlee Lawson and her father Chad Lawson teamed up with the world’s largest Christmas project of it’s kind, Operation Christmas Child. Marlee and her father spent the last year making baked goods to raise money to buy items to put in shoeboxes and pay for postage.

“I thought of it because, last November my life group filled over 40 boxes for our Operation Chirstmas Child and i’m like, this is a great way to spread God’s love with others,” said Lawson.

Lawson told us their initial goal, was to raise money to pack 50 boxes and she was successful. So much they were able to pack 100 boxes. The purpose is to fill them with a *WOW* item. Marlee told us the boxes are meant to inspire other kids.

“You just want to give them inspiration, they love the boxes, you don’t wanna put too much stuff in them but, you can put enough stuff. Our were almost so full that that wouldn’t close,” said Lawson.

A week from tomorrow all the boxes will be shipped out to more than 100 countries; with the hopes to reach 11-million children. To get involved just like Marlee, you can visit the Operation Christmas Child website at samaritanspurse.org/occ.
