Mary Jane Hoffer, 88 of Zanesville died at 6:20 PM, Saturday, March 14, 2015 at the Cedar Hill Care Center following a brief illness.
She was born on April 21, 1926 in Martins Ferry the daughter of Anthonious and Nina (Sowders) Tiliakos.

Mary was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church and a retired cook from the Elks and the Downtown Lounge. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary and the Knights of St. John. Mary enjoyed bingo and sipping Coca-Cola while listening to the Ohio State Buckeyes and Cincinnati Reds. Mary was a friend to all and she spent most of her time praying for everyone she knew.
She is survived by her three children; Brother Eric Hoffer of Apple Valley, CA, Diane “Cookie” Searls and Daniel Hoffer both of Zanesville; four grandchildren, Aaron (Lori) Searls, Angie (Mike) Ewert, Kelly Showecker, and James (Ivy) Showecker; nine great grandchildren, Antonio Wegener and Emma Stinehelfer. Lahney, Abby and Carter Searls. Gianna and Bella Ewert, and Kai and Luka Showecker. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, James V. Hoffer Sr., a daughter, Janet Showecker; two sons, William & Joseph Hoffer; two brothers, Homer Griffith and William Hamilton. and her foster parents Mr. and Mrs. Augustus Alexander.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 PM with Christian Vigil at 6:30 PM, Thursday March 19th at the Bryan & Hardwick Funeral Home, 2318 Maple Ave. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM, Friday March 20th at the St. Nicholas Catholic Church with Fr. Martin Ralko as celebrant. Burial will conclude in the Mt. Olive Cemetery.
