Mary Jane Smith

ZANESVILLE
Mary Jane Smith, 66 of Zanesville, passed away Sunday, July 2, 2017. She was born January 8, 1951 in Lima, OH to the late Richard and Mary Katherine Point Redmond. She dedicated her life to education. She was a graduate of Ohio University and Ashland University, where she graduated Cum Laude. Jane was a guidance counselor for Franklin Local Schools, Zanesville City Schools, West Muskingum Schools and retired from Groveport Madison. She was the past president of OSCA (Ohio School Counselors Association). She was a master gardener and loved to travel and take cruises. Jane was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her husband Michael Smith; a son Brad Taylor Smith; a godson John Paul Marshall; a brother Darrell (Shirley) Redmond; a sister Sandy (Don) Lauf; three nephews: Brian, Trent and Chad; special friends: Bill (Cathy) Renaud, Dr. Pat Renaud, Al and Carolyn Dean, Jim (Carolyn) Saunders and Tina Strauss.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her mother and father in law I.W. and Gloria Smith and a niece Mindy Lauf.
No calling hours will be observed. An inurnment will take place at Zanesville Memorial Park at a later date. THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME 1150 WEST MILITARY ROAD ZANESVILLE, has the distinct honor of serving the family.
