Mary Mitchell

Mary Ann Mitchell, 86 of Newark, died 11:37 AM, Sunday, April 16, 2023, at Licking Memorial Hospital in Newark. She was born Wednesday, July 1, 1936, in Rose Farm, Ohio, the daughter of Gordon Thomas and Ruby (Ross) Thomas.

Mary Ann was raised by her grandparents, Thede and Mary Ross. She was a cashier with Zane Food Town for many years, and enjoyed quilting, baking and sewing. Mary Ann enjoyed traveling and concerts, especially the Statler Brothers.

Mary Ann is survived by three sons, Thomas (Cathy) Haynes, Monty (Lisa) Mitchell and Brady Mitchell; one daughter, Gena (Bill) Thomas; eight grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

In addition to her parents, and grandparents, Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Mitchell who died January 9, 2019, and six siblings, Dick, John, Albert and Elmer Ross, Annabelle Smith and Marvene Thomas, and one sister-in-law, Betty Ross.

Friends may call Monday, April 24, 2023, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, at the Hillis, Combs & Nestor Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue, Zanesville. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at the funeral home with Rev. Pastor Ruth Messick officiating. Burial will follow in South Olive Cemetery, Caldwell.
