Mary Vaughn

Mary Lou Vaughn age 87, of Caldwell, OH passed away Saturday, January 24, 2026 at Altercare of Cambridge in Cambridge, OH. She was born September 29, 1938 in Caldwell, OH, daughter of the late Bernard and Emma Cooper Gardner.
She was a Caldwell High School graduate. Mary Lou spent many years caring for others through her work in various medical offices, including Marietta Memorial Hospital, OhioHealth Southeastern Medical Center, and the offices of Dr. Ditch and Dr. Cox. She eventually retired from the Noble County Health Department. Mary Lou was a 50 year member of the Guernsey Chapter #211 Order of the Eastern Star.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband George W. Vaughn, whom she married April 11, 1980 and who passed away September 13, 2010; son Mike Foraker; brothers Bill Gardner, Robert Gardner, and Richard Gardner.
Those left to cherish her memory are several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews Bill (Becky) Gardner of Norwich, OH and Shannon (Alan) Folkert and their children Luke and Hope of West Lafayette, OH; special friends Linda Eschman, Cathye, Ginny, and Faye; her faithful companion, her dog Susie. She is also survived by many friends.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Altercare of Cambridge and to all the caregivers who provided compassionate care to Mary Lou over the past year.
The family will receive friends for visitation Friday, January 30, 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724. A funeral service will conclude visitation Friday, January 30, 2026 at 1:00 PM including an Eastern Star Service, in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Michael McGuire officiating. Burial will follow in Dudley Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved George. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in Mary Lou’s honor to Paws Inc.
