Maryellen Maude Metzler Bennett
Maryellen Maude Metzler Bennett left this earthly home February 15, 2023, to go home and be with her Heavenly Father. Maryellen was born September 20, 1922 and was raised in Erie PA, with her two brothers, Emery, Munro and her dear sister, Ida. She attended Academy High School and married the love of her life, Leroy Mahue Bennett on February 20, 1941. They lived in Milcreek PA, then moved to Fairview PA, and lived there until their retirement in 1984.
They moved to Norwich, Ohio to be close to family and also spent time at their residence in Bunnell, Florida as snow birds. Maryellen loved playing Bingo, playing cards, reading, working in her garden, and spending time with the family she loved.
She and Leroy were also very active members of the Norwich Presbyterian Church. They loved traveling out west in their camper and made the trip several times.
Leroy passed away on July 23, 2010, and Maryellen then spent time living in Norwich and Florida, until she moved to New Albany, Ohio to reside at Otterbein Skilled Nursing facility in 2015.
Maryellen shared her 100th birthday surrounded by her family in September 2022.
She will be missed by so many who loved her. Her smile, kindness and gratitude was what made her such an amazing woman. She always showed great strength, determination, and perseverance no matter what she encountered in life.
She passed quietly and peacefully in the early morning hours of February 15th. She will be deeply missed by her son, Fred Bennett of Venice Florida, (Mila) Leroy Bennett Jr. of Edinboro PA, Anna Bennett Oscard (Doug) of Delaware, Ohio and Lisa Bennett Owens of Pataskala Ohio. Maryellen is also survived and so loved by her large family of 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
