Massive Blaze Destroys Two Habitat for Humanity Houses
Two Habitat for Humanity homes are considered a total lost after two fires late last night.
Newark Assistant Fire Chief David Decker said emergency crews responded to a call just after 10 Saturday night. Decker said the fire started at 40 Parker Avenue when their next door neighbor, at 36 Parker Avenue noticed the porch had caught on fire and prompted everyone to get out of the houses. The fire took about an hour to contain. Chief Patrick Conner said 3 adults and 5 children were displaced from the two homes. No injuries were reported. Decker said the Red Cross stepped in to assist the two families. The cause of the fire is still unknown and the incident remains under investigation.
