Max D. Prouty, 90, of Baltimore, OH, died Friday, March 20, 2026, at Altercare Zanesville.

Born September 1, 1935, in Chandlersville, Ohio, he was a son of the late Marion and Helen (Snack) Prouty Sr. Max drove semi-trucks for Kroger for over 37 years. He was an avid bird watcher, flower gardener, and enjoyed hunting. He was eccentric as he built his home from recycled church & barn materials, all the while putting his thoughts into poetry. Max attended the Lighthouse Memorial Church in Millersport & Walnut Creek Baptist Church in Baltimore, OH. He would often hold Bible studies at his home and could recite books verbatim from his Bible.

Surviving are his four children, Rebecca Smith, Deborah (Kevin) Norris, Kirby Prouty and Corbin Prouty; two step-sons, Scott (Courtney) Campbell and Todd Campbell; four grandchildren, Justin Adcock, Candy Norris, Travis Norris, and Maggie Prouty; great grandchildren, Avery Whited, Autumn Norris, and Sylvia Norris; siblings, Loren Prouty, Larry (Mary Lee) Prouty, Shirley Prouty Holszchuher; sister-in-law, Linda Prouty; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce E. Prouty; grandson, Tray Norris; the mother of his children and first wife, Janet Myers; and siblings, Vernon Prouty, Victor Prouty, Marion Prouty Jr., and Bonnie Whyde Owens.

Family and friends may visit 2-4 & 6-8 pm, Thursday, March 26, 2026, at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil | Wagner | Marshall Funeral Home, 714 Main Street, Dresden.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00pm, Friday, March 27, 2026, at the funeral home with Pastor Mike Robinson officiating.

Max will be laid to rest next to his wife, Joyce, at Dresden Cemetery.
