Maxine Danford

Maxine Danford age 90, of Caldwell, OH died peacefully on Monday, August 26, 2024 at her home. She was born February 4, 1934 at home in Wakefield, OH a daughter of the late Eddie and Maggie Moore West.
She was a member of the First Church of Christ in Caldwell and attended the Caldwell Church of Christ. Maxine was a hairdresser and later touched the lives of many children in Noble and Monroe County as a head start teacher for GMN. She was an avid Caldwell Redskin and Ohio State Buckeye fan. Maxine was happiest when she was surrounded by family and friends at gatherings, cooking for everyone.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband Norman Burkitt; second husband Leonard W. Danford; son Val Burkitt; sisters Lois, Lillian, Carol, and Pam.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children Laura (Randy) Postlethwait of Caldwell, and Bryce Burkitt of Columbus, Stacey (Randy) Urbaniak, Shane (Jeff) Danford, and Stephanie (Mike) Starkey all of Marietta; grandchildren Sharon (Daniel) Pakes, Kent (Marissa) Radcliff, Geoff Urbaniak, Heath (Gabby) Urbaniak, Arial (Matt) Urbaniak, Jake Brown, and Brooke Brown,; great-grandchildren Shelby, Damon, Brenner, Elliott, and Bennett; siblings Teddy West and Jean (Frank) Henson. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks for the care offered to Maxine by Absolute Hospice and by her special friend and caregiver Tonda Feldner.
Cremation will be observed, and the family will receive friends for a memorial visitation Sunday, September 1, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the Chandler Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724. A celebration of Maxine’s Life will conclude visitation at 2:30 PM in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel, with her nephew Johnny Williams officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date.
