Maysville Band Earns State Recognition

SOUTH ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Maysville High School Band has been selected to participate at the Ohio Music Education Association’s Professional Development Conference that will be held on January 30th in Columbus.
The invitation is generally reserved for much larger programs with far greater resources to match the rigorous qualification requirements.
“It’s cool, It’s very cool. I feel very proud of what we’ve achieved as a band over the last four years now. I mean I think that we’ve just grown so much. And like the students that keep coming in, the freshmen, like that keep coming in, like they always seem to push the envelope and like make us better. And it’s cool. It’s awe inspiring,” 11th Grade Trombone Player Greyson Hearing said.
Each member of the band has a passion for music and displays that passion through their increased involvement and eagerness to participate in extracurricular musical collaborations.
“I think each student gets to experience what they want to do and it helps them kind of develop maybe what they want to do outside when they go to college. Maybe they want to go into arts and stuff like that. I mean it’s been a really good experience,”11th Grade Clarinet Player Grace Rush said.
The Maysville Music program not only teaches an appreciation for music but shows them multiple career fields that are possible by leading them into opportunities created by their passions and talent. If you would like to hear the band perform, they will be holding their 5-12 winter concert 6:30 p.m. this Saturday at the high school.
