Maysville Shows School Pride
ZANESVILLE, OH – School spirit was alive and well at Maysville Elementary.
To celebrate the boys basketball team’s return to the OHSAA State Championship, the Elementary and High Schools hosted pep rallies featuring music from the band and performances by the cheerleaders.
Dave Brown, the head boys basketball coach, said it’s been amazing to see all of the support for him and his team.
“We have a great community,” Brown said. “Fortunately we were able to do this last year and the kids were really excited to see our guys so, as you can see the hallways are decorated with lots of signs and it’s just an exciting time for our community.”
Brown said this wasn’t just a moment to cheer on the home team, but an opportunity for the younger kids to see that hard work can pay off.
He said this gives the young athletes a goal to dream about and achieve with the right amount of dedication and determination.
“I think it’s important that they see, if you work hard for something, anything is possible,” Brown said. “I think our high school kids work extremely hard and we want to be involved in our youth league sports, anything, everything. If you work hard at something, anything is possible and we want our kids to see that hard work does pay off, so hopefully this carries over to future generations.”
