Maysville’s Smith Signs With Ashland

Maysville point guard Brooke Smith inked a letter of intent to Ashland University today, joining a Lady Eagles squad that captured the Division II National Championship just two seasons ago.

"They’re a close-knit family and I knew I wanted to be a part of something like that," Smith said of Ashland, comparing the team camaraderie to that of the Lady Panthers. "The coaches care; the teammates care."

Smith helped lead Maysville to a 26-1 record and a spot in the Division II regional final last season. 

Three area athletes currently play for Ashland: former Zanesville guard Leanne Ulbrich, former Newark guard Maggie Mitchell and former River View forward Andi Daugherty.
