ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The Muskingum County Community Foundation unbeknownst to them was reviewed by an independent organization, Charity Navigator, the world’s largest charity evaluator.

Charity Navigator assesses and analyzes the accounting, donations, and management of nonprofit organizations and determines their credibility and how close they adhere to their mission statement. The independent organization rated the MCCF as four out of four stars. Which is a feat in-and-of-its-own, but exceptionally rare for a charity of its size.

“They deemed us as being one of the highest ratings within the state, we’re one of a few foundations in the entire state to receive this ranking as well as one of only two rural foundations to receive this ranking,” Brian Wagner, executive director of the Muskingum County Community Foundation stated.

The four star rating means more than just a designation. It’s a symbol of affirmation for the organization and a status of trust for donors.

“Well, you know it’s really two fold. For us, it shows that internally we’re reporting and we’re as transparent as we possibly can be, and that our business accoutrements in the work that we do is reaching that high standard. For the donors, it’s an indication that we are doing what we say we’re going to be doing with these dollars that they intrust to us,” Wagner said.

The MCCF says that this seal of trust means that current donors can feel confident in the funds they give to the foundation, and hopefully will inspire new donors wanting to make a safe and smart philanthropic donation. The foundation is also gearing up for its Fall Grant Competition with applications becoming available on their website Friday, September 3rd.
