MCEO Wants To Vacate Church Hill By Spring
ZANESVILLE, Ohio-Â Muskingum County Commissioners met with the county engineer Monday.
Doug Davis talked about the fate of Church Hill Road.
“We met with the coal company to finalize plans about vacating the existing Church Hill roadway and taking Hall Road. We will be calling the new road Haul Road. And it will become the new public county road. The coal company has been working with their engineers and their construction crew to prepare that roadway to current county standards. So it will be a county road, ” said Muskingum County Engineer Doug Davis.
Davis anticipates vacating Church Hill Road by spring.
“It’s going to be a much a much safer roadway. The old road was very winding, up and down the hills. It was narrow. So now we have 55 foot right of way, adequate design speeds for 40 miles per hours. That’s fast enough to travel on a gravel road. It meets the proper site distance and proper design standards, ” said Davis.
Davis also met with commissioners about the Philo Bridge. He will be holding a public meeting regarding the bridge in March.
