MCLS Features NoveList

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Many avid readers have trouble finding what book they would like to read next.

Muskingum County Library System provides an online service to their readers that suggests which books are available that best match their interests.

“NoveList has been one of our little, hidden resources. We use it a lot for reading recommendations. If you fill out our wonderful quiz and we give you reading recommendations, we pull a lot of those from NoveList. So you can find similar authors, similar titles, they do a really cool thing that’s called like Appeal Mixer,” MCLS Adult Services Manager Heather Phillips said.

The NoveList is a mobile-friendly database that sorts books into themes and can choose some eclectic story combinations from the topics you ask it to search.

“So it is on our website,” Phillips said. “If you go on our catalog, it is just right on the top amongst the options. It’s what… ‘What Will I Read Next’ or something like that. You can also go into our ‘Find It’ page and find the Reading Suggestions link that we have. And we have a whole website page dedicated to different things you might want to read, suggestions, things like that. You can go into NoveList, you can take the quiz, it links to our Good Reads, like loads of different ways we want to get you books that you really like.”

MCLS readers can access the NoveList feature from home by submitting their library card and pin number to interact and receive a list of books with one that just might become your next favorite.
