ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The local Kiwanis International organization is providing meals on wheels this December and all who get a meal will get a snowman as well.

Muskingum Behavioral Health’s recovering addiction clients have been making snowmen out of socks, rice, ribbon, and other supplies since October to send with each meal the Kiwanis will deliver. Behavioral Health Chief Prevention Coordinator Kris Headley said this is good for the recovering clients as well as those in the meals on wheels program.

“Our clients always love to do community projects that’s one of the things they absolutely love, they love to give back to the community as they’re recovering and getting back on their feet,” Headley said. “The clients really got into it they were creative, they loved to make the snowmen, and they loved the idea of making somebody else happy.”

Headley said Muskingum Behavioral Health’s clients that are participating in making the snowmen are all volunteers. Headley is also a Kiwanis member and after discussing the meals on wheels program decided each person needs more than a meal for December.

“Kiwanis will be delivering the meals on wheels on December 23, 2017 and we will be taking the snowmen with us,” Headley said. “Not only will we be giving them to meals on wheels in December, but probably to some local rest homes. If they know anybody that doesn’t have a lot of visitors they can call us.”

For more information on how snowmen can be delivered to care centers, nursing homes, and other facilities call the Muskingum Behavioral Health, (740) 454-1266.
