Meet Cara, The Pet of the Week

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Each week we feature a new furry friend as pet of the week.

Meet Cara. Cara is a one year old Calico and has been at the Animal Shelter Society for a couple of months now. Executive Director, Jody Murray said she gets along well with dogs but, she does not get along well with other cats. You can add Cara to your family for a small fee of $20.

“She’s just one of those cats that probably lost her home out there or someone wasn’t able to take care of her any longer but, she has been great since she has been here at the shelter,” said Murray. “She’s very chunky and seems to be really healthy now. She has a full belly right now.”

Saturday is ‘National Clear the Shelter Day’ and shelters across the country have a goal to try to get as many animals adopted as possible. Murray said their goal is to clear their shelter tomorrow.

“Tomorrow all of our cats will be $10. If you want them microchip that will be an additional $10. We’re going to have lots of dogs that have reduced prices for adoption some very low,” said Murray.

If you are interested in adopting a pet during ‘National Clear the Shelter Day’ you can stop by the Animal Shelter location off of Newark Rd. from 10 a.m to 4 p.m.
