Meet Ruby: This Week’s Pet of the Week
ZANESVILLE, OH – This Week the Animal Shelter Society is shining a light on a sweet little pup with a big personality.
Meet Ruby! She’s an almost 2-year-old cockapoo, who’s spayed, up to date on her vaccinations, and is eagerly searching for her forever family.
April Gibson, the Executive Director, says Ruby does well with everyone she meets and would fit in with just about any family.
“She’s sweet, the staff say she’s a little bit dramatic, she’s a definite little girl.” Gibson said. “But she doesn’t seem to mind anything, she’ll be able to fit into any type of home. She rides well, she doesn’t mind getting a bath. You just have to keep in mind when you have a cockapoo, or poodle, or something of that nature, you see the fur, you’re going to have to keep this trimmed up.”
Gibson also wanted to take the time to share a few exciting things that have happened at the Animal Shelter recently.
Last Saturday they hosted their annual Wheels for Whiskers Cruise In Car show and Gibson says it was a massive success.
She also talked about a recent donation that was made by a local pool.
“They stopped by yesterday and dropped off the check, it exceeded our expectations and what we thought was going to happen. Exceeded what they did last year, we’re looking forward to 2026 with them, they’re just a good group of people who believe in our mission.” Gibson said. “Miss Linda Jones came into the Shelter today, she’d been at the New Concord Area Pool for many, many, years and they had a dog there at the pool a couple of weeks ago. They put out a jar and decided it would come to the Animal Shelter and you know that’s something. That, those folks, some of them haven’t even visited us, but they see us and they see the things that we do.”
