Meet this Week’s Pet of the Week: Samson

ZANESVILLE, OH – This week the Animal Shelter Society is spotlighting Samson as their Pet of the Week.

Samson is a 2-year-old coonhound mix, who’s up to date on his vaccinations and patiently awaiting his forever home.

April Gibson, the Executive Director of the Animal Shelter, said that Samson came to them a few weeks ago and he seems to do well with cats and children.

She said he would do best in a home with a lot of space to run and get his extra energy out.

“You just want to have a space for him to run,” Gibson said. “Where they had him before, he didn’t have that space, so if anybody knows anything about beagles or hounds, they’re also going to have a strong voice to them and their going to need some space.”

Gibson says the Animal Shelter Society is also getting into the Halloween fun by taking part in 7 different trunk-or-treat events this year. She said it’s great to include your furry friends during Halloween, as long as you do it safely.

“There’s a lot of candy out there, there’s a lot of things involved and you’ve got to be careful,” Gibson said. “There’s some ingredients that are not safe for animals at all. So you can have them be involved in the family trick-or-treating, but you want to make sure you have apples, blueberries, and strawberries, that type of thing. They love that.”

The Animal Shelter is also gearing up for the first ever Rockin’ for Paws and Claws Concert on Saturday, Nov. 9th. The concert will take place at Kick-N-Ax, located at 970 Linden Ave, from 4 to 11PM.
