Meet Wesley! This Week’s Pet of the Week

ZANESVILLE, OH – This week’s Animal Shelter Society Pet of the Week loves everyone he meets.

Meet Wesley! He’s a two-year-old basset hound beagle mix, more commonly known as a bagel, who’s neutered, up to date on his vaccines, and is ready to find his forever family.

April Gibson, the Executive Director of the Animal Shelter, said Wesley has had a bit of a rough life, but that hasn’t stopped his personality from shining through.

“The sad part is he was found on a dead end road, it happens a lot and it’s very unfortunate,” Gibson said. “I can’t imagine someone making that decision, the good part is a hunter was back on that road with another beagle and came across Wesley and brought him in to us.”

Gibson said Wesley has a go with the flow attitude and would do well in just about any family, but Gibson noted that a career as a hunter might not be in the cards for him.

She also said her and her staff are hard at work, putting the finishing touches on the 9th Annual Yappy Hour.

“I can’t believe it’s here, I mean we do so much at this 100% non-profit and you think you have plenty of time, then you turn around and here we are,” Gibson said. “We have a lot of great sponsors that we’re so grateful for, our Top Dog Sponsors, the Moyer Group, they always come through for us, there’s several of them that’s posted on our website, our Facebook page and it’s out there.”

Yappy Hour will take place on March 6th at the Zanesville Country Club from 6 to 8:30 PM.
