ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Officials from Muskingum Families and Children First Council is looking to joining forces with the Healthier Buckeye Council.
Officials said since both groups have similar interests and objectives, it would be a good fit to combine these two entities.
“Both Families and Children First and Buckeye Council are both initiatives of the county commissioners. So it really made a good fit. And our membership in Family and Children First is the exact same membership that will be joining the Healthier Buckeye Council. So to help with everybody’s time and energy we could just bring it all together and address those initiatives,” said Thasia Schiling.
Schiling said the goal is to find the needs in the community and develop new programming for those needs.
“As things get going and we gear up. We’ll start bring in other people to help make some changes in the community. The healthier buckeye council as a whole is out to help fight the thing of poverty. We haven’t decided what those are yet, but we’ll be looking into finding some good initiatives to be starting here in the county,” said Schiling.
Schiling said this joint venture is still in it’s beginning stages.
