Michael Dooley

With hearts filled with sadness, the loved ones of Michael ‘Gorilla’ S. Dooley announce his unexpected departure on Wednesday, August 28th, 2024, at the age of 56. Let us celebrate his remarkable life and cherish the memories he leaves behind.
Mike will be lovingly remembered by his children, Austin and Matthew Dooley; sister, Misty(Michael) Rife, Mindy(Dan) Caplinger, Monica(Rick) Batteiger; nieces, Kylee(Ross) Gannon, Katie Stewart; Nephews, Cody(Tyler)Stewart, Kyle Conrad, Denver(Tori)Conrad, Dylan; great nephew, Dayne, Benson, Deaton, Aaron; great nieces, Raelyn, Braunsyn, Layne; special uncles, William Dooley and Gary Dooley; special aunts, Maria Dooley, Sue Dooley, and Bonnie Dooley; as well as family friends that were also dear to his heart, Ami Melvin, Maddi Melvin, Darla Wade.
Mike was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret “Peggy” Dalzell; grandparents, John and Frances Dooley; and uncles, Larry, Tim, Paul, and Richard Dooley.
Mike graduated in 1986 from Mid-East as a Power Lineman. Mike was the life of the party, never meeting a stranger or missing an opportunity to put sunshine in one’s heart. He spent most of his time listening to Jelly Roll and Ozzy while dancing with his Natty Daddy in his hand. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Ohio State Buckeyes fan.Mike had a heart of gold and was very talented in many aspects including his wit and sharing his knowledge of the Bible with others.
Mike’s journey was a testament to the power of unwavering self-expression, leaving a lasting impact on all who witnessed his unapologetic self.
Join us for a visitation in honor of Mike on Thursday, September 5, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME 1150 WEST MILITARY ROAD ZANESVILLE.. Pastor Ed Swartz will officiate the service immediately following the visitation.
Join us for a joyous celebration of Mike’s life on Friday, September 20, 2024, at 5:30 p.m. as we gather at Trulight Ministries, 807 Putnam Ave, Zanesville, Ohio 43701. Let us come together to honor his memory and share in the love and light he brought to our lives.
In lieu of flowers, let us honor Mike’s memory by donating monetarily to Trulight Ministries. Additionally, the family kindly requests that you bring full-size shampoo and conditioner, deodorant, and/or body spray to benefit Trulight Ministries and Homeless Hands, uplifting those in need.
