Microsoft Receives Tax Credit

Licking Co- The Ohio Tax Credit Authority is granting a 100 percent, 15-year data center sales tax exemption to Microsoft.

The company is investing $1 billion in three new data centers in Heath, Hebron and New Albany. The company expects to create 20 full-time equivalent jobs with the potential for hundreds more.

The tax exemption will help Microsoft purchase construction materials, computer equipment and other infrastructure for the data centers through partial or full sales tax exemptions on those items.

Microsoft’s $1 billion investment in Licking County will allow the company to increase its cloud services. The funds will support $700 million in building costs and $300 million in machinery costs.

The company expects 400 construction jobs will be supported annually for the project.
