Mid-East Holds Opportunity Fair

One local school is aiming to help students plan for their future careers.

The Mid-East Career and Technology Centers hosted their second opportunity fair for its students Tuesday. The purpose of this event was to provide students and their families with information regarding as many opportunities as possible. Executive Director Michelle Patrick said they brought in a wide variety of opportunities and businesses.

“We have mostly business and industry that are related to our 23 programs. They cut across everything from engineering to manufacturing to early childhood and to the healthcare field,” said Patrick.

With this being their second year hosting this event, Patrick said they’ve received a lot of positive feedback from the parents.

“Had extremely positive feedback from the parents so far, we’re collecting that as they go. Very excited to meet the teachers, to see the warm environment, to see what opportunities there are and connect with businesses and industry,” said Patrick.

There were nearly 50 businesses in attendance. Patrick said they are hoping to expand the number of business, industry, college and university, and military opportunities to help show the students all the various possibilities.
