Mid-East Student Recovering from Viral Meningitis
A Mid-East Career and Technology Center student is recovering from a confirmed case of viral meningitis.
The student is now home after receiving treatment over the weekend.
"He attended one day of school last week which was last Tuesday, and was not feeling well. He was treated originally for a migraine headache by a local hospital and then later that night became very ill and was transported to Children’s Hospital," says High School Director Asa Bradbury.
Bradbury says the school has informed students and parents about the symptoms of the virus, as well as ways that it can be contracted by reviewing proper hygiene routines.
"Symptoms are a terrible headache, possible vomiting, nausea. Could be soreness in the neck or possibly stiff neck. It could be a sensitivity to light or blurred vision," says Bradbury.
Bradbury says the staff worked very hard over the weekend to sanitize all surfaces in the school building. Anyone with questions can contact Asa Bradbury at 740-454-0101.
