Midway Speedway Stock Car Show at Colony Square Mall This Weekend

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The 2022 Midway Speedway Stock Car Show is being held this weekend at Colony Square Mall. 

The Midway Speedway Stock Car Show is an event that includes many dirt race cars on display from local racers and fans.

Chad Bishop, a local dirt racer, said it’s his second year racing, but it’s always been a part of his life.

“I’ve always been around it. I had a car about 15 years ago and due to a family thing, but I’ve always been around it and just finally had a chance to buy a car and I bought it. The rest is history now,” Bishop said.

Bishop encouraged people to come out to the event to see the hard work they put into the cars. He said it’s more to it than the common stereotype, it’s actually a fun time with the kids.

Tim Morris, another local dirt racer, said attending his first R&R Speedway at the age of 21-years-old made him want to become a racer.

“I talked to the mall manager last night and I told her, I said ‘if you come out to one race, you’ll come back.’ It’s the excitement of these cars, the late model guys, the formula 4, the mode lights. They’re not thinking how these modifies and late models are probably doing 80 to 100 miles per hour side by side, three by side, through the corners and when you see that on dirt, you won’t imagine anything else,” Morris said.

The Midway Speedway Stock Car Show will also be going Sunday inside the mall.

Participants can vote on their favorite car for the People’s Choice Award and donate non-perishable food items to help local food organizations.
