ZANESVILLVE, OH – WHIZ continues its tradition of honoring local heroes through the Military Salute. On October 28th, we took a moment to recognize another veteran for his years of dedication and service to our country.

James Nesbitt served 10 years in the United States Air Force, reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was stationed at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland and Dover Air Force Base in Delaware, serving with the Presidential Fleet and on cargo airlifts around the world, including Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Chile, and Afghanistan.

Nesbitt says being recognized today means a lot, and moments like this remind veterans that their service still matters.

“It means a lot. A lot of service vets feel like they’ve been forgotten. But there’s a lot of things for vets when they come back from serving overseas, or even state side.” U.S. Air Force Veteran, Staff Sergeant, James Nesbitt said.

Nesbitt was presented with an honorary flag from Annin Flag Company, proudly sponsored and presented by Beckert’s Outdoor Power Equipment.

“It means a lot to all of us to be able to honor those who honored us.” Fred Beckert, Owner of Beckert’s Outdoor Power Equipment said.

WHIZ is proud to continue honoring the men and women who have served our nation.
