Military Salute To Your Local Veteran

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – It’s a chance for the community to recognize and pay tribute to the veterans in your life.

All Summer long, WHIZ Media Group is hosting a military tribute on whiznews.com. As a way of honoring your veteran you can upload your favorite photo to the website where it will be featured for the community to see. These veterans can be those who are currently serving or have served in the past. 

“They’re all over the world serving. And sometimes different forts, different Air Force bases on ships around the world that are serving. And they’re just not going to be with family that holiday weekend. So it’s an opportunity for us to pay tribute to them and so we’re encouraging people to submit those pictures of those who are serving or have served,” said WHIZ General Sales Manager, Jay Benson.

All you need to do to participate is visit the WHIZ website, scan the photograph or upload it from your computer. The pictures will be on the website until the week after Labor Day, August 18th. 

“They could actually take a picture of a picture and post it. Then they go right onto our website. Look for the military tribute symbol, and they click on that, and then they can upload and post their picture,” Benson said.

If you are looking for another way to contribute to Memorial Day weekend, American Legion Post 29 and VFW Post 1058 are looking for volunteers to help put flags on the graves of local veterans who have passed. If you are interested, contact the American Legion or VFW.
