Miracle on Main Street Lighting Ceremony
Tis the season to be jolly, and hundreds of local residents got into the holiday spirit Wednesday night downtown on Main Street.
The community celebrated the 22nd annual Miracle on Main Street with the lighting of the downtown. The entire community was invited to take part in the holiday festivities.
“Tonight we have the Zanesville High School jazz band playing behind me right now. We also have the Sweet Adelines, the Broadway Babies and we’ll have George Hiotis from WHIZas our M-C. Mayor Jeff Tilton and Commissioner Jerry Lavy are speaking as well,” said Chamber of Commerce Member and Services Director, Dana Matz.
There were several hundred folks downtown. Many attractions and businesses chose their favorite story books and decorated their site with that book in mind.
“This is the 22nd year to do this. It’s a great way the city, the county and all kinds of businesses, Mid-East come together to help us do the decorations. The businesses decorate their stores. It’s also the kickoff of to the festival of trees,” said Matz.
Matz told us it takes an entire year to prepare for this event. Once December is over, everyone begins to meet and start planning for the following year.
