Miss Ohio Reads to Students at Duncan Falls Elementary

Miss Ohio

DUNCAN FALLS, Ohio-  Some students at Duncan Falls Elementary School were treated to royalty today.

Miss Ohio, Matti-Lynn Chrisman of Cambridge, stopped by to read to students. Chrisman won the title in June of last year, and said it was a life changing event that helped her learn so much about herself, and the state of Ohio. Her platform for Miss Ohio was mental health, which is why she chose to read the book Spaghetti in a Hotdog Bun to the students. A book she believes has an important message for kids.

Chrisman said “It talks about having the courage to be yourself even when people are unkind to you or even when people tell you that being different is bad or being different is weird. It kind of helps with confidence and helps with the conversation about bullying ”

Chrisman believed the visit really benefitted the kids, and it builds a lot of confidence even at such a young age.

Chrisman also said “I hope that they take away that even when somebody is being mean to you, you should always kill them with kindness. Usually when somebody is mean to you, if you’re kind back to them they don’t really know what to do.”

With only three months left of being Miss Ohio, Chrisman hopes that she can have an impact on students by reading at more schools.
