Missouri Woman and Her Two Goats Trek to D.C.
ZANESVILLE, OH – A woman from Missouri and her two goats are making their way to Washington D.C. with a goal to regain guardianship of her husband.
Beverly Shaw, accompanied by her and her husband David’s emotional support goats, are traveling across the U.S. to bring awareness to what she calls medical kidnapping.
Shaw said her husband got sick a few years ago while they were on vacation, she says once they returned home her husband was placed into a nursing home against their wills.
“I’m trying to get the message out to save people from this and I’m also trying to raise $10,000 for the attorney because I’m now taking it to federal court,” Shaw said. “You have to go through all the state levels before you can take it federal.”
Shaw made a stop at Zane’s Landing and said there’s many reasons why she’s brought the goats along on this journey.
She said the main reason is because there is no one else back at home to care for them.
Shaw said they’ve been amazing copilots and have exceeded their jobs as ESA’s.
“They’re now actually registered to me as well, they have been my support,” Shaw said. “I went to New York City, got in on the New York Times, slept in my car for 8 weeks in front of Rockefeller Center, handing out flyers, and I’ve actually learned that they are an asset because they play. Try to hand out flyers in New York City and most places, people will run, but you know, stand there with two goats wearing diapers, they come to you and ask you what’s going on.”
