Mona M. “Marlene” Durant, 87 of Zanesville.

Marlene had a smile as bright as the stars, a laugh as lovely as a skylark’s song, a heart as warm and nurturing as the sun, and a faith that never waned or wavered.

Marlene returned to Heaven from where she came. God called his angel home to Heaven, September 23, 2025, at Genesis Morrison Hospice.

Marlene was born December 10, 1937, in Zanesville, the daughter of Benjamin Moore and Gladys (Wisecarver) Moore. She married Jerome Durant, Sr. on April 15, 1961, and was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church.

Marlene was an avid gardener, enjoyed crocheting, sewing and was an excellent cook. She along with her husband, Jerome attended the Cambridge Senior Center, where she enjoyed the activities, especially bingo. She made many, many prayer cloths for the St. Nicholas Deacon’s Ministry. Marlene was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who greatly cherished her family, and the time she spent with them.

In addition to her husband, Jerome, Marlene is survived by five children, Tereasa (Robert) Carpenter, Jerome (Sheila) Durant, Jr., Andrew (Amanda) Durant, Beverly Crotzer and Larry (Kathy) Durant; grandchildren Jeffrey (Aimier) Carpenter, Susan (Eric) Stall, Sarah (Doug) Ellison, Brittany Durant, Gavin Durant, Angel Doty, Justin Doty, Ashley Bradberry; several great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Marlene was preceded in death by one daughter, Pamela Durant, and her son-in-law, Mark Crotzer.

Friends may call 4:00 to 7:00 PM, Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at the Hillis Combs Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue, Zanesville, where the Rosary will be recited at 6:45 PM, where a time of reflection and remembrance will also be observed. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM, Thursday, October 2, 2025, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 925 East Main Street, Zanesville, with Fr. David Young as celebrant.
