Jobs are coming to southeastern Ohio. Governor Ted Strickland announced today that a solar farm expected to bring up to 600 jobs is being built on a former strip mine next to the Wilds Animal Preserve in Muskingum County. Two additional factories will also be built which could increase the number of jobs to 700. Whiz News first told you about the development on Monday. Spanish manufacturers Prius Energy S. L. and Isofoton plan to employ 300 people to make the nearly 240-thousand solar panels needed to outfit the 49.9 megawatt farm, dubbed the turning point solar project. Another 300 temporary construction jobs are expected too. The project could power up sometime in 2012. American Electric Power has agreed to purchase power from the facility for 20 years to help fulfill state minimums for renewable energy.
