Morgan County OSU Extension Educator Announces Retirement

ZANESVILLE, OH – A long time Ohio State Extension Educator has announced his retirement.
Chris Penrose has worked with the Morgan County OSU Extension Office as an Educator in Agriculture and Natural Resources for 35 years.
He has been a beloved guest on our Noon News program for 24 of those years.
Penrose took a trip down memory lane to mark this milestone in his career.
“Probably the most exotic thing I ever did was back in 1993,” Penrose said. “I was trying to get promoted and I had the chance to go to a presentation in Australia. After 6 stops and 44 hours later, we made it and it had to be the most interesting trip I ever took.”
Penrose said he couldn’t believe the years came and went so quickly.
“It went awfully fast.” Penrose said. “I can’t believe it went that fast but as I reflect back on my career, what I loved most was being able to go out on farm visits. Being able to go out and spend time with the clientele, that’s what I enjoyed the most.”
He also gave some advice for those that want to make a career for themselves at their own Extension Offices.
“This is a great opportunity.” Penrose said. “You can work yourself up through the system and everyday can be fun. This job as an Extension Educator, you can start with your Bachelor’s Degree and go from there while being able to keep the same job.”
The WHIZ Newsroom will miss Chris but wish him all of the best in retirement.
