Morgan Local Parts Ways with Barker

Morgan County- Morgan Local Schools has decided to part ways with Dr. Kristi Barker.

On the district’s Facebook page Friday afternoon it was announced that the decision was mutual and in the best interest of the district given current challenges, for her to pursue other professional opportunities.

Details of the separation agreement are pending board approval. She will be on paid administrative leave beginning Monday, March 3.

This comes after a school board meeting earlier this month, where Dr. Barker drew criticism over her decision to close the district’s Career Technical Education programs. Barker said the cuts were necessary to save the district a $1.5 million deficit.
