ZANESVILLE, Ohio- If you are looking to take your mom out for a meal on Mother’s Day a local fire department is here to help.

Washington Township Fire Department will be having its annual Mother’s Day Chicken Barbeque. The meal will include half of a chicken as well as several sides.

“We’re going to have a drive thru for the carry out. hopefully that will help accommodate some of our people much better. In and out quicker, not having to stand on the black top and serve the community better,” said Washington Township Fire Chief Gene Hanning.

Hanning said he is expecting the fire department to serve 1,200 meals. He said this is the largest fundraiser of the year for the station.

“Helping the operation of the department for equipment. Tools and stuff that we need. That just helps contribute to that. We’re here to serve our community. But we really appreciate them coming back and purchasing our dinners and being able to support us so we can support them,” said Hanning.

Dinners cost $9 and will be served from 11 A.M. until all the chickens are sold out.
