Zanesville, Ohio- One holiday classic has made its final curtain call at Secrest Auditorium for 2017.

The youth of Movement on Main dance studio took the stage for the last performance of their highly anticipated show, the Nutcracker. The students have put a lot of work into the show, including fundraising for their costumes and props.

“We’ve put in a lot of rehearsals starting in August, and we prepare 90-100 students for the production each year. This will be the seventh year that I have directed it, and when I was a dancer I danced in it for about ten years,” said Director, Whitney Lewis.

The cast is filled with members of all ages who have dedicated their time and efforts to make the show a success. Many of the dancers agree there’s nothing like being on stage.

“My favorite part is tech week when we get on the stage with all of our hair and makeup done for the first time and under the lights. That’s my favorite part,” said Dancer, Adalaide Pitcock.

“Yeah. I really like performing in the show just because you get to perform for the audience and show them the story”, said Dancer, Grace McCutcheon.

The Nutcracker is performed every year at this time. Many of the girls have had the opportunity of being a part of this event for many years and have become quite like family. With the holiday performance out the of way, the dancers will now begin preparing for their spring recital in May.
